surviving domestic abuse

About Us.

This is a

True Story.

Turning Pain into Purpose.

Daniel Palmer and Antonia Rainbow are siblings who have bravely emerged as survivors of domestic abuse. Their childhood was spent under the shadow of a father who instilled fear instead of providing the love and protection they deserved. The normalcy of their lives was marred by beatings, uncontrolled rage, and an overwhelming sense of powerlessness, with every aspect of their existence tightly controlled. For years, Daniel, Antonia, and their mother suffered in silence, holding their pain as a tightly kept secret, even from each other.

Daniel, at the age of 45, could no longer bear the weight alone. He confided in his work colleague, Morgane, in a moment that would change the course of their lives. Morgane’s willingness to listen gave Daniel the courage to voice the horrors of his past, recognize the ongoing control his father still had over him, and acknowledge the full extent of the abuse they had all endured; physical, sexual, financial, coercive control, and stalking.

This conversation was instrumental in empowering Daniel to share the truth with his sister and mother, setting them on the path from victims to survivors. However, Morgane realized that despite her empathy, she lacked the resources to guide Daniel toward professional support. This experience underscored the vital need for awareness of domestic abuse and access to local support systems, fueling a determination to ensure others could be better equipped to help those in similar situations.

With incredible support and therapy, Daniel and Antonia have transformed their pain into purpose, and, with Morgane, they are committed to making their story a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change.

Purple Spaces was born out of this shared commitment to disrupt domestic abuse and create safe environments at work where conversations can start, helping victims find their voice against their abuse. We are dedicated to training volunteer Purple Responders, who will provide a compassionate ear and a pathway to local support services. By fostering these safe ‘purple spaces’ in workplaces, we aim to ensure that victims know they are not alone and have somewhere to turn.

Our mission extends beyond empowering businesses and victims. We are also devoted to supporting the remarkable support agencies and organizations that are on the front lines of this fight. Through our business acumen and marketing expertise, we will generate financial support and raise awareness to bolster these vital services.

At Purple Spaces, we believe in the power of dialogue, the strength of community, and the transformative potential of support. Together, we can make workplaces and communities safer, disrupt the cycle of domestic abuse, and offer victims the chance to reclaim their lives.
